THE STORY
"IN LOVE AGAIN" is a powerful and emotional story about Ila, a young homeless woman, who battles to break free from the vicious cycle of drug addiction while confronting society's harsh judgment and ignorance in her quest for a better life.

THE CHARACTER

Ila is a young, homeless woman struggling with drug addiction. Despite her struggles, she is kind and compassionate, finding joy in small things. Her determination to break free from addiction is evident in her tired eyes, but she is often rejected by society. Ila's selfless nature and heart of gold makes her a relatable and sympathetic character, who is batteling for a better life.

PERSONAL NOTE

This was a very rewarding experience. It was great to play Ila and I even fell a little bit in love with her. It was challenging to fully embody her inner struggle and withdrawal symptoms, but I was able to tap into unique movements and characteristics to create a unique, likable, and believable character that resonates with the audience.

THE STORY
Annemarie has a date with Daan through a dating app. However, upon arriving at Daan's place, she is disappointed by his poor living situation and lack of financial ambition. She's afraid that she's bet on the wrong 'horse' She continues her search and later finds a better match and entry point for her cunning ideas, in Stefano.

What Annemarie doesn't know is that Daan and Stefano are locked in a fierce competition, and she is being used as a "weapon" in their rivalery. This becomes evident when Annemarie is confronted with both men at the same time, and Stefano irritably demands that she leaves immediately.

It is obvious that  Stefano's plan failed, but Annemarie also has to revise her plan to infiltrate Meerdijk.

THE CHARACTER

Annemarie is driven by her desire for wealth and power to move up the social ladder. When her date with Daan doesn't meet her expectations, she quickly moves on to Stefano, who she sees as a better match for her cunning ideas.

PERSONAL ROLE NOTE

I had a wonderful adventure during my short visit to Meerwijk, and was warmly welcomed by the regular cast and crew. The scenes with Bas were particularly memorable, as we had a great connection. Working with intimacy coordinator Cynthia to explore the 'free scenes' was also a positive experience, because we were open and honest in our preparation about what we wanted and how it felt. Due to the  professional approach it was a rewarding experience that I look back on with fondness. Perhaps Annemarie will return in the future!

THE STORY

Luna is a young woman in The Club of Five who has inherited her family's devilish genes and enjoys doing bad things. She lives with her younger brother and grandfather, who is an experienced villain. Luna has an obsession with weapons and takes pride in executing her tasks flawlessly.

PERSONAL ROL NOTE

Who doesn't dream of playing a villain who can conjure all kinds of weapons and eliminate children from their path? In the film, I found the role of granddaughter Luna to be the most enjoyable one. Playing a villain and doing evil things can be exciting and fun, especially because these are things that you cannot say or do in everyday life, but you can do them in acting. It's really exiting!

THE STORY

The 24-minute film opens with Jacks driving through the countryside, en route to her boyfriend’s home. Jacks has just discovered her pregnancy, much to her mother’s disappointment. Her best friend is wary of the “strange” new boyfriend, but that doesn’t stop her from going.  Loeän initially appears charming – with romantic gestures and loving behavior, but the relationship takes a dark turn when Jacks reveals she wants an abortion. Loeän holds Jacks captive, intoxicating her with drugs and keeping her in the basement. His motive is to control Jacks and their unborn child. A tense thriller throughout.

July Janssen plays Pai: a curious and adventurous young woman who has lived a sheltered life under the protection of her uncle Bolo. However, when her innocence is shattered by the discovery of the secrets and complexities of the world around her, Pai is forced to mature and face the consequences of her actions. PERSONAL NOTE

It was amazing to step into the role of Pai, sometimes even a little surreal, as if I was truly stepping into another reality. Along with preparing for the character, the specially designed clothing and all of the built sets and locations were instrumental in diving into the world of "Remnants of the Order". The training sessions and encounters with Darth Vader added to the immersive experience. The arc of the somewhat naive Pai to a young woman who has already experienced so much was fantastic to play. All the emotions and challenges were a joy to portray as an actress and to top it off... how many people can say that they have fought alongside Stormtroopers and with lightsabers.

THE SERIES

Geraldine Kemper and Tim Hofman, together with a panel of fourteen young people, present a true-to-life drama in each episode. When is sexual behavior acceptable and where is the boundary? Did both parties want it, or was one of them coerced? Does anyone regret it, and what does that mean? These questions are the focus of the discussion between seven girls and seven boys in a villa in Baarn.

THE STORY

Zoë, a teenage girl, struggles with life as her sister seems to have everything she doesn't - a great job, a great boyfriend, and supportive parents. Zoë and Sophie don't get along, and Zoë's love life is non-existent. Seeking attention and validation, Zoë teases Sophie's boyfriend, Luuk, hoping he'll take the bait. When Luuk takes her up on it, Zoë feels scared and guilty, distancing herself from the game. Later, when Zoë is crying over her breakup, Luuk consoles her, making her feel seen for the first time in a while. However, things take a dark turn when Luuk forces Zoë into a sexual act and leaves her in shock and crying. Luuk tells Zoë to keep it a secret, leaving her feeling lost and unsure of what to do.

PERSONAL NOTE

Playing the role was remarkable for me as I got to embody the provocative character and let my inner angry teenager come out. Although bullying, teasing, and provoking are things that I find unpleasant and irritating in everyday life, As an actor its wonderful to do it and to do it for a living! 
However, as we worked towards the rape scene, which brings a completely different emotional weight, with the knowledge that 1 in 4 women have experienced withe this horrible actions it became challenging and intense to perform. I feel honored to play such roles because it's such an important subject that is rarely talked about, and there's still so much taboo and shame surrounding it. I hope victims who see these scenes can find comfort in knowing they are not alone, and it may even help start a conversation about it.

THE CHARACTER

July Janssen is a teenage girl who feels overshadowed by her sister Sophie's seemingly perfect life. She struggles with her own love life and tries to force things to happen. She resorts to teasing Sophie's boyfriend Luuk to try and make herself feel better, but when Luuk takes the bait, Zoë feels scared and guilty. Later on, Zoë experiences a traumatic event when Luuk sexually assaults her. She is left feeling shocked, crying, and unsure of what to do next.

THE STORY

The film tells an exciting story about a new female Jesus who ventures in and around the Amsterdam Java Street. This street is located in the middle of the Indonesian neighborhood where conflicts are always looming, not just over personal issues but also over ideologies and religions because everyone believes in their own righteousness, hears and sees what they want to hear. But is that the truth?

The film's protagonist, Zowie, is the daughter of columnist Theofiel Loman (played by Hugo Metsers) who writes unkind articles about Islam. This brings her father serious problems with leftist activists, putting Zowie's friendship with her Muslim friend Kesha under pressure. Friendship, faith, and love are seriously put to the test.

"Jesus of the Java Street" is a tragicomic mosaic story set in and around the Java Street, the heart of the Indonesian neighborhood in Amsterdam. In the film, the neighborhood functions as a microcosm of life on earth today, a life full of small and large conflicts, not just over personal issues but also over ideologies and religions. It tells a thrilling, suspenseful story about faith, conflict, and love, asking the question, "Why can't we live together?"

THE CHARACTER

Meet Zowie Loman, a 21-year-old Dutch woman with Scottish roots. Born in Hilversum, she currently resides in the lively Javastraat in Amsterdam with her two roommates, Bas and Kesha. Zowie is a lesbian who studied Communication and Information Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, but dropped out after six months due to pressure from her father. She now works at a nail studio and sells GHB as a local dealer. Her ultimate goal is to earn as much money as possible, which she tries to achieve through her work at the nail studio and drug dealing. Zowie is passionate about kickboxing, rock music, and motorcycles. Unfortunately, she has no family left -besides her father-  after her parents divorced when she was just ten years old.

PERSONAL NOTE
Playing this role was a thrilling experience. I enjoyed stepping into the shoes of a character who is so different from myself and exploring her motivations and behaviors. It allowed me to push myself as an actor and challenged my own preconceptions and biases. It was a reminder of the power of storytelling to help us understand and empathize with people whose experiences may be vastly different from our own. Overall, it was a rewarding and eye-opening experience that I won't forget.
